Positano, Italy


A drive down the Amalfi coast is one of Italy's most popular excursion and attracts millions of tourists every year. Positano is an old coastal village that dates back to the 10th century AD. It was once the chief seaport for trade with the Middle East. It has also been a muse to countless artists who’ve come to her for inspiration. Today, Positano has become an upscale resort for movie sets and holidaying celebrities. It is now teeming with tourists who come by busloads during summer. If you don’t want to get lost among the myriad tour groups, you should visit any other time of the year as Postiano is a great all-year destination.
Positano has only 3700 inhabitants and situated close to Salerno. It is a fabulous mountain holiday spot and at the same time a perfect seaside holiday spot with ten sun-kissed beaches.
It was part of the Amalfi Republic in the 8th, 10th and 11th centuries and was one of the most important commercial centers in the 10th century. It region was extremely prosperous in the 16th and 17th centuries when trade flourished with the Middle East.
