The Eiffel Tower, Paris, France

The Eiffel Tower, built in 1889 beside Paris' Seine River, is one of the world's most recognizable and most visited monuments.
Standing 986 feet tall, the tower is constructed of 18,000 pieces of wrought iron. Every seven years it is repainted.

Built for the Universal Exhibition in celebration of the French Revolution centenary, the Eiffel Tower hoisting the flag to the top was inaugurated on March 31st 1889.
The "metal lady" is illuminated by 352 projectors of 1000 watts and twinkles every 30 minutes in the evening with 20.000 bulbs and 800 fairy lights.
